myBMS Card Sorting
Three-round card sorting activity to evaluate information architecture of the Alpha version of myBMS.
Problem Statement
The current information architecture of the Alpha version of myBMS, an employee portal serving 34,000 users across departments worldwide, may not align with users' mental models, particularly in the categorization of HR, IT, and BMS Info & Resources pages, leading to potential confusion and inefficiencies in accessing essential information.
Project Goals
Assess whether the existing information architecture aligns with users' mental models for organizing HR, IT, and BMS Info & Resources pages.
Improve the efficiency of information retrieval by optimizing the categorization of HR, IT, and BMS Info & Resources pages.
Complete card sorting activities and present findings within a 5-week timeline.
Stay within expected budget.

Results
Collected and analyzed 5 participant submissions of 15 rounds of card sorting total
Recommended intuitive category renaming and recategorizations of 30 web pages to 16 HR and IT stakeholders
e.g. "Life Events" category may be renamed "Workplace Experience" - as written by participants in the open card sorting activities - to better align with users' mental models
60% of participants grouped the pages "Onboarding" and "Offboarding" under "Workplace Experience"
