Week-long diary study for the Alpha version of myBMS to understand user behavior and assess overall usability.
Problem Statement
Navigating myBMS, an employee portal built for all departments and global sites, can take a long time. Finding essential applications often requires more clicks than ideal. With the launch of the next version of myBMS, there’s an opportunity to make using the portal quicker and easier, thus increasing employee efficiency.
Project Goals
Gain insights into how employees interact with myBMS on a day-to-day basis.
Assess the overall usability and user experience of the Alpha version of myBMS.
Complete diary study and present findings within a 4-week timeline.
Stay within expected budget.

Recruited employees with access to the Alpha version of myBMS
3 groups of participants:
Human Resources (4)
Information Technology (3)
Administrative Services (1)
Daily entries recorded digitally in OneNote or app of choice
5 entries submitted via email by Monday of the following week
Results
Collected and analyzed 8 participant submissions of 40 diary entries total
Identified 6 positive user flow/feature changes:
Onboarding tour with walkthrough of changes
Ability to mark changes
My Active Items sidebar
Easier findability of Global Holiday Calendar, Employment Verification, and employee directory
Work Notes section added to Activity tab
Contact Support process similar to previous version of myBMS, reducing learning curve
Identified 7 highly requested user flow/feature changes:
Add one-click button on homepage to check Technology Quotient hours
Add section for BMS global sites
Add icon for ADP
Show turnaround time for tickets
Move Search bar to top of screen
Update homepage carousel with company news
